ウォルナッツ（胡桃）からです。勿論拾ってきた材料です。今朝チェーンソウで縦割りしてたら裏のおじさん、オーナーではなく部屋を借りてる方から叱られました。今日は土曜日ですから、合法ですが… 直径30センチで例の葡萄種油仕上げです。昨夜、これからはウォルナットオイルを使うと決めたばかりですが、購入していないのでとりあえず…。上さんの友人が購入したいような事をいってます。

This bowl is from a walnut tree found on someone's blvd. I halved the piece with a chainsaw this morning, however, our neighbour's basement tenant complained about the noise. It is finished with grape seed oil. I decided to finish my bowls with walnut oil from now on. I have to get some walnut oil before I switch finishing. The bowl is 30 cm diameter. I think my wife's friend wants to buy it from me. (in the end I gave it to my daughter for Christmas)

実を言うと、こんなものもセールのために作りました。 3mmの樺の合板を五枚あわせて糸ノコでくりぬきます。初心者ですし、穴を開けるビットが一サイズ小さすぎだったりで 五時間ほどかかりました。一枚12ドルしてたのですが全然売れません。興味を示した人も殆ど皆無。私の思うのにはクリスマスツリーには、キラキラしたのが人気なのだと思います。次の三つは$6で、製作時間は2~2.5時間ほどずつです。

I also made this for the craft sale. It is made from a 3mm thick birch plywood. I cut 5 layers together and took me about 5 hours. I was probably slow due to being a beginner and using one size too small drill bit for the blades I used. I tried to sell a piece for $12, however, I couldn't sell any nor nobody seemed to be interested in it. I think the most people prefer shinny ornaments for the tree. The next three were on sale for $6 each. It took me 2 to 2.5 hours a pattern to cut.

今日は日系センターでのクラフトセールです。結果から言うと、35個ほどのうちから26個売れました。売り上げ額は ＄628で赤十字へ全額寄付します。この一年間練習させてもらって、お金までいただいてハッピィです。写真はクローズィングタイム間際です。 ＜＞追記；11月23日 更に二つ$55で売れました。11月25日　三つ$59で売れました。残りは四つです。

It is the Nikkei Centre Craft sale today. We took thirty five bowls with us and sold twenty six. The total amount we raised for the Red Cross was $628. I was very happy about being paid for practicing wood turning for a year.　This picture was taken about a half hour before the closing time. <<>>Update; Two more bowls were sold on Nov. 23rd.　Three　were sold on Nov. 25 and four are still remaining.

街路樹桜材。直径12cm。葡萄種油仕上げ。私の飯茶碗。米粒が張り付いて洗うのが大変。

From the street cherry tree. 120mm diameter. finished with grape seed oil. My bowl when I eat rice. Grains of rice stick to the wall of the bowl and it is very difficuld to wash. I use a Scotch green pad.
